Vida Verde Educational Garden and Equipment Replacement

We were excited for the opportunity to partner with Vida Verde Nature Education once again. Vida Verde provides free, overnight environmental learning experience for students who don't otherwise get the opportunity. For many students, their stay at Vida Verde is both their first time camping, and their first time cooking a meal.

The foundation provided funding for improvements to Vida Verde's educational garden and groceries to help supplement the food that is grown onsite.  While staying at Vida Verde, students participate in harvesting and cooking meals, and even get to milk goats and make cheese. This hands-on approach enables low-income and disadvantaged students to gain a better understanding of where their food comes from, what it takes to grow and harvest that food, and builds their enthusiasm for cooking and healthy eating.

In addition to the garden improvements, PaperSeed provided funding to replace Vida Verde's 35 camping mattresses. The new equipment is highly durable and will provide a cozy place to sleep for more than 7,500 students over the coming years.

In 2013, PaperSeed was proud to provide funding for Vida Verde's purchase of new teepees.
